Music on The Prairie

Music on the prairie by way of Molt, Montana is a great story to tell. I haven't been there but I would if I could!  On Saturday mornings, you would find the entire population in Molt plus visitors in one small cafe. The cafe seats 56 but additional people are standing in the hallway waiting.  Saturday mornings, from 9 to noon, the place is crowded with people wanting to hear to hear the music.
It was all started by a fella named Larry who had the idea the cafe could be the perfect spot to hold practices for his band, The Hogback Five. After the Hogs started practicing, other bands came out of the woodwork wanting to join in the practice sessions. People came from miles around and from every state in country plus 42 foreign countries (according to the guest book) and enjoyed the music on Saturday mornings.

Fran Urfer makes to die for pies for the cafe/grocery store on one side and the other side is for the hardware.  She and her husband, Jerry, remodeled the building in Molt and the Kepferle Mercantile was reopened. The setting of Molt sounds like to die for homestead environment with grasslands and mountains as far as the eye can see. Not knowing anything about Molt, I imagine winters are a bear to get through but the rest of the year is glorious.
