Headaches

I read an article in yesterday's Parade magazine in The Sunday Oregonian and it 'rang' my bell.  I have problems with headaches that

come and go as they please. This article is saying Botox is a possible new cure for headaches.  Researchers are finding Botox has

some medical uses on top of filling your wrinkles.  Two birds with one stone!!!  Pretty good ROI, don't you think?  The studies on

Botox usage were conducted in the U.S. and  Europe with people that have migrains. The subjects in the testing received two

injections of either the placebo or Botox over 24 weeks.  They were requested to keep diaries to note if and when they experience a

headache.  Scientists found that the number of headaches was reduced by nine days in the Botox group vs. 6.7 days in the placebo

group.

I am sorry there was no data given on the two groups regarding the wrinkle issue.  Maybe there will be an adendum report to cover all

bases. I suspect a doctor would need to prescribe the Botox for headaches (the article was saying migraines) but the FDA had yet to

approved Botox for migraine prevention although neurologists and headache specialists have used it for years.  Did you know that?  I

didn't!
