Ever thought about hiring yourself? If you can't find a job, create one.  You can become an entreprenuer yourself and design the job around what you want to do for the rest of your life.  These are tough times and we have no idea when it will turn around.  If you find a pink slip along with your paycheck you will need a fall back plan to start up work scenarios.  A senior might excellent experience but seniors are the biggest group looking for work.  The last time this group was the largest of the unemployed sector was the Great Depression days.

If you do get an interview for an available job, the starting pay will be around $10.00 an hour. It's not surprising people think about starting their own business. A 2009 Careerbuilders.com study reports the July report was just  that response.  One reason is that older adults have the experience and cash to start a business. Baby boomers have seen that light about staying with a company or not.  One has to find other ways to earn money. Starting a microbusiness (employ 5 or fewer) is a natural fit for a skilled senior.

Seniors starting a start-up business many times underestimate the amount of time and money the new company requires. One "retired" teacher started up an online retail business decorating brownies and other products offers her advice and that is start with enough capital because profit takes time. Experts in the know of this situation agree. Don’t give, just work a little harder.
