Can Stress Make You Sick?

Stress making you sick? If you work either outside your house or inside, you build up stressors. What about your blood pressure?  Stress affects your skin, weight and, yes your heart.  If you have any wounds on your body, they will be slow in healing. Furthermore, you are opened for depression. Can it get any worse than this?

Studies links stress and illness.  Job stress has an environment of causing heart attacks to the unsuspecting employees.  Stress is the culprit as well as poor eating habits and weight gain.  Headaches can be stress related due to the balance or imbalance of chemicals in the brain and the narrowing of blood vessels. Tension in the neck and shoulders can also be stress related.  How many of us hurt for massages in the neck and shoulder area.  I tend to keep hunching my shoulders to loosen them.  It gives me the feeling that I am loosening up but I don’t know. Maybe it is the type of job that’s doing it.

The good news is that there are several ways to put the lid on stresses; i.e. exercising, medications or calming techniques like meditation which I find is good for me.  All I in need is a quiet room and an easy chair to find the peace I want and need.  In the late70s I was offered TM training by a colleague where I worked. That was a long, long time ago but I have never forgotten the basics. Now and then, I find peace that way in times of tribulation and my MS.
