Dorothy L. Sayers was Oxford-educated author who was a most popular author of the Golden Age era. Her first novel was titled “Whose Body?” brought Lord Peter Wimsey to Sayers to write about his monocle and wild air and to become a detective in Scotland Yard. Dorothy published two volumes of poetry before she moved to the detective novels after graduation just to earn money. Sayers was known for combining detective stories with her skilled novelistic writings for people to love. Later in her life, Dorothy switched to translating Dante’s Divine Comedy. She claimed that religion and medieval subject matters were more worthy than detective novels. |
